GCSE
For GCSE, we build on the skills from Key Stage 3 to prepare students for both their English Literature/Language and Maths exams.
Literature
At KS4, students study literature, relevant to their specific exam board.
This is from a wide range of fiction and includes both pre-1914 and contemporary
works, including prose, poetry and drama (including Shakespeare), covering different
genres and historical periods.
We also examine how themes and ideas present meaning alongside setting, plot,
context and characterisation.
Language
The ability to write well for the correct audience and purpose is essential for success
in English.
Students learn to write for different purposes, including producing fiction and non –
fiction pieces of work; a requirement of the exam.
GCSE
Students are familiarised with the exam requirements and study Maths relevant to their exam board.
Practice papers and simulated testing environment are used to help the students to gain confidence. Tailored one to one support and explanations provided to maximise progress and improvement of each student.
